More info

It shows the famous St. Basil's Cathedral located on the Red Square and Kremlin cathedrals on the back, including Spasskaya tower with famous clocks. St. Basil's Cathedral has the second name- the Pokrovsky Cathedral.
The color palette reflects the summer season and the realistic view of the cathedral.
The entire scene is drawn over two large pieces of mother-of-pearl that shines brightly with gray, violet, and blue undertones throught the sides of St.Basil's Cathedral and the walls of Kremlin Cathedrals (white cathedrals to the left of the composition).
The scene is framed with a bronze scroll work, the sides of the box are decorated with golden ornamentation.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on the four legs. The work is signed with the artist name and Fedoskino.
