More info

Here the artist has chosen to depict the Cathedral of the Resurrection or more commonly known as the Our Savior on the Spilt Blood Cathedral. It was built on this specific location because it was where Alexander II life was taken in 1881. Located on the Griboyedov Canal its foundation was laid in 1883, and construction lasted twenty four years when it was consecrated in 1907. Today it has once again been given back to believers.
The entire scene is drawn over a large piece of mother-of-pearl that shines brightly with gray, violet, and blue undertones throught the sides of the Church. A gold band wraps around the edges of the lid and the edges of the box's exterior bottom.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom.
The work is signed with the artist's name, 2018 and the village of Fedoskino.
