Well-known Palekh Master and ex-teacher of Palekh Art school Vladimir Vlezko is the artist who painted this original scene. Here we can see an episode from tale of the Golden Fish, when wife has used already several wishes and possibly send husband to tell a Golden fish that she wanted her to be her servant...
The composition is painted in traditional Palekh colors: red and green tones. Gold and aluminum paints are applied within the composition to add brightness and details. The application of metallic paints is very subtle yet yields great results!
The scene is framed with gold ornament, while the box's sides are decorated with more complex ornamentation painted in gold and silver colors.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The box has a hinge located above the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Vlezko has signed the box with his name, Palekh and the year of 2013 at the bottom of the composition in gold paint.
