The Arrival of the Gray Wolf to the Wedding Ceremony of Ivan Tsarevich

This colorful box is a creation of Olga Strunina from the village of Mstera.Olga is a daughter of World-known Mstera artist Leo Fomichov.
The work is called "The Arrival of the Gray Wolf to the Wedding Ceremony of Ivan Tsarevich". It shows the final episode from the Russian folk tale "Ivan Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf" when the Wolf comes as a guest to Ivan's wedding.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints. Various details are enhanced with brilliant gold paint.
The box's exterior is richly decorated with festive gold floral patterns accented with red and blue tempera paints.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, the year of 2008 and the village of Mstera.
