The work is called "Holiday in the town of Suzdal", and shows the traditional scene of a Russian troikas. It is an old Russian tradition to arrange troika competitions during different feasts. In the background the artist depicts in details several cathedrals of Suzdal, which is the ancient Russian town.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints, and detailed with gold paints. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are decorated with beautiful gold and aluminum floral patterns.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Mstera, and the title.
