The scene is drawn in the traditional Palekh style, and richly detailed with gold and aluminum paint. Gold ornament decorate the edges of the lid, while the box's sides are adorned with rolling golden filigree.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is painted with dark red/brown lacquer while the interior is completed with red lacquer. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on three round legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2004.
