Meeting in a Forest

This interesting work has been created by T. Milyushina from the village of Kholui. A peasant girl was picking raspberry in the forest, and to her great astonishment came upon a bear in the raspberry bushes.
The scene is skillfully painted in the traditional Kholui style. The palette is dominated by greens, blues and browns.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The exterior is covered with intricate gold and silver floral patterns. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Kholui and the title (“Meeting”).
