A powerful Tsar noticed that it was time for his three sons to be wed. He summoned them all at once and told them to each fire a single arrow into the air. The closest maiden to each fallen arrow would become that son's wife. Ivan and his two brothers shoot arrows into the air to find their future brides. A frog catches Ivan's arrow (in the middle of the installation) and this is who he is obligated to marry.
Prominent artist Nikolay Zotov ranks as the one of the best contemporary Masters in Fedoskino, whose creations are displayed in each catalog on the Russian lacquer art. This artist has a peculiar style, and very often his boxes(or installation) are originally shaped, that is why it is always easy to recognize his unique creations. This interesting installation has also a unique shape!
Like in most of his works, here the artist has created a multi-layered composition to get a three-dimensional effect.
The installation is constructed from paper-mache, pressed papers and epoxy rosin, painted in oils. The work is signed with the artist's name.
One-of-a-kind-creation!!!
