Hiding from a Storm

It is raining, and the sky is dark blue. The hunters have found a shelter under the haystack. The bad weather has broken their plans, and they are obliged to postpone their hunting. They speak with the peasant who also hides from the rain under the haystack.
This adorable piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by the talented Victor Tretyakov of Fedoskino. A beautiful palette of the scene is based on the combination of contrast dark blue and bright straw tones. Gold paint is used to highlight the haystack.
The scene is framed with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
