Winter (Dual-sided box)

This gorgeous dual-sided purse-shaped box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist Dmitriy Tipyakov! It is called "Winter" and shows a panorama view to a village hidden somewhere within a forest. The forest trees are are painted on the front of the composition. The blue iced river is hiding behind the trees. On the one of the sides there two Magpies are flying over the trees.
Dmitriy really likes to paint landscape scenes. This might comes from his mother-prominent Fedoskino artist-Tatiana Tipyakova, who is also famous by her outstanding landscape scenes.
In this work the artist has managed to express his admiration for a quiet splendor of Russian nature. A scene like this, real or on an artist's canvas, always has a calming effect on the soul.
The colors taken from the palette are very natural and realistic, which enhances the quality of the landscape in the way it was rendered.
The scenes on the both sides are framed with a gold line.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the bottom and the box rests flat. The work is signed, titled and dated (2011) by the artist.
