At the river

This box is a creation of Nataliya Gogina from the village of Fedoskino.
It shows a bank of a river. An oil on canvas painting painted in the 19th century inspired the artist to create it. For Fedoskino painters, as it was for the Vishnyakov and Lukutin artists before them, inspiration is often found in canvas paintings by artists great and small. A spectacular example of how a beautiful painting can be rendered in miniature is presented in this work.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior is covered with black lacquer, while the interior is traditionally red. The lid is not hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2001.
