Snowmaiden

Olga Strunina from the village of Mstera is the author of this adorable box. It is painted on New Year's theme, and shows the beautiful Snowmaiden standing in the cloud of swirling snowflakes. The composition is painted in blue tempera paints suitable for the chosen theme. The Snowmaiden's fur coat is decorated with gold snowflakes and her crown is accented with gold. The edges of the lid are adorned with elegant gold pattern.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's initials, Mstera, the title ("Snowmaiden") and the year of 2007 .
