More info

This attractive piece was created by the talented Leonid Zuikov of Mstera. The master is an example for student and artist alike. Award winning intellect within a medium developed through tradition and elegance.
The artist has chosen to depict the Pushkin's fairy-tale "Ruslan and Ludmila". Here we can see Ruslan listening to the wise and equally mysterious Finn. The Finn will grant Ruslan the knowledge he needs in order to defeat the magic of Chernomor.
The color palette used is very characteristic of Zuykov's work, which includes a wide array of paints and tonal variations in the colors. The detailing done by the artist is second to none that creates a great deal of movement and depth within the scene. The color usage that the artist implements makes the colors complement each other very well.
To decorate the box the artist uses aluminum paint for the filigree that is found framing the scene on the lid.
The box is constructed out of heavy-duty paper-mache that is strong and dense. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece and red lacquer to paint the interior. The box isn't hinged and rests on a flat bottom. The artist wrote the title, Mstera, and his name under the composition on the lid.
