This traditional Kholui box has been painted by Andrey Kharchev. It shows a picturesque view of the Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin. The architecture is painted in red, green and light brown tempera paints against the black background. The cupolas and crosses of the cathedrals as well as the pebbly square are detailed with brilliant gold paint. The edges of the lid and the box's sides are adorned with elaborate gold patterns.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom The work is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Kholui, and the title
