This interesting brooch was painted by talented Artist Kukharkin Boris from the village of Palekh.
The brooch depicts one of the Slavonic gods - the legendary Paradise Bird named Sirin. It is half a woman, half a bird. It rules over weather and wind. Its singing is so beautiful that if somebody hears it, he forgets about everything including relatives and friends.
The bird is very well drawn. It has a pretty, female face, bright red wings and a beautiful tail. The bird's body is highlighted richly with gold paints.
The brooch is made out of paper-mache. It is signed with the artist's name, village and year (1997).
