Magic Mirror

Her composition is a prescription based in elegance and luxury. The box features an episode from the Pushkin's "Tale of Sleeping Princess and Seven Bogatyrs". Here we can see the Sleeping Princess's stepmother, the Queen, who asks her magic mirror who the most beautiful woman in the kingdom is.
The palette used by the artist is filled with brown and light brown tones. Gold and aluminum paint is used to attract light to the scene.
The lid's edges are decorated with a simple golden ornament. More complex gold floral design accented with light brown oils can be found wrapping around the box's sides. The box's exterior is covered with two tones of green oils that echo the green palette of the scene. Light brown tones gradate into purple tones from the box's top to its bottom. The box's interior is red.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with Fedoskino and the artist's name.
