Winter in the Russian countryside

As usual the artist uses allegory and fantasy in his compositions! Here we can see Father Frost and Snowmaiden as the major simbols of Winter in the Russian Fairy Tales. Kids are sledging over a beautifil long and snowy white dress of Snowmaiden. In the center of the composition on the lid and all four sides of the box we can see wooden village houses covered withthe snow.The chimneys are belching out smoke. It is very cozy and warm inside these houses...

Gold paint, applied with extreme precision, details almost every aspect of the composition. The sides and the lid are decorated with a pattern composed of gold.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four small round legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh and the year of 2019.
