This antique box that was painted in 1996 is a creation of Yuriy Kolganov. It shows three fishermen sitting near the bonfire on the river bank. It is evening and bright red flashes of the setting sun can be still seen on the horizon. The fishermen cook fish soup over an open fire, tell each other interesting stories about fishing. Judging by gestures of the fisherman sitting on the right, he tells his friends what enormous fish he has managed to catch. The friends are disputing loudly, drink vodka and enjoy a warm summer evening.
The composition is framed with gold leafy patterns completed with silver flowers. The same ornamentation can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. At the bottom of the composition the artist writes Kholui, the title (“Near the Fishing Bonfire”), and signs his name all in gold paint.
