The box shows a scene from a Flying Carpet tale.
Gold ornament decorates the edges of the lid. The sides of the box are adorned with beautiful gold floral ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. It is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and a year.
