Golden Fall

This small oval box is a creation of Yevgenia Shatokhina. The work is called “Golden Autumn”. Here the artist has expressed her admiration for a chosen season. The crowns of trees and bushes are covered with bright red, orange, and yellow foliage. Each leaf is detailed with brilliant gold paint. Gold paint is also used to fill the landscape with dozens of minute details. Aluminum paint is used to create movement on the water.
The scene is framed with gold beads while the box sides are decorated with gold foliage pattern accented with aluminum.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2004.
